Newark Portraits Exhibit Invitation

On Thursday, January 25th, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., the Belmont Runyon Community School will open its new art gallery and exhibition space with a collection of oral histories from people who lived through the Great Migration in Newark and shared their stories. With a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, The Newark Public Library digitized a portion of its historical materials which document the Great Migration experience in Newark, New Jersey. The project is entitled,We Found Our Way, Newark Portraits from the Great Migration. The exhibit runs from January 25 to March 22, 2018.

In the above flyer, the picture of the six year old girl is Zaundria Mapson, a 1964 Weequahic High School grad and a retired Newark educator.
