THE MARVIN GIBSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Marvin Gibson Memorial Scholarship Fund is being established in honor and in memory of Marvin Gibson, a 1978 graduate who played on the football, basketball, martial arts and weightlifting teams at Weequahic.

A devoted husband and father, he lived a life full of faith, education, and trust in the Lord. Following his high school graduation, he joined the United States Army where he became a Sergeant (E-5) and received a “Good Conduct” Medal and an “Overseas Service Ribbon” for his time served in Germany. He was able to travel worldwide and became a medical lab technician.

Marvin graduated with a Bachelors Degree from the University of Maryland. He then went on to receive a Masters of Divinity degree from Calvary Grace Church of Faith in Florida.

The Gibson Fund is established by his wife and children. The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving Weequahic student by the WHS Alumni Association. To make a contribution, mail a check made out to WHSAA (with Gibson Fund in the message area) to WHS Alumni Association, P.O. Box 494, Newark, NJ 07101.
