Weequahic Mother’s Day Program at Jewish Museum this Sunday

This Sunday, May 13th, The Jewish Museum of New Jersey in Newark will have a closing reception for its “Rising from the Ashes” exhibit by artist Carol J Cohn. Her mother, Annadele Lipman, graduated from Weequahic in 1947. So on Mother’s Day, in honor of her mother’s memory, the program will be “My Mother’s Newark – Celebrating Weequahic. There will be two slide shows: “The Sweet Legacy of Weequahic” and “Distinguished Weequahic Alumni,” with Weequahic memorabilia, yearbooks, Calumets, apparel, etc.

Phil Yourish, WHS Alumni Association founding director, is the the Vice President of The Jewish Museum and is organizing this event. The Museum is located at historic Newark synagogue, Ahavas Sholom, at 145 Broadway in Newark. The program is from 2 to 5 p.m. Bring your Weequahic “stuff.” Refreshments and beverages will be served and free secure parking is next to the synagogue building.
