The Behavior Specialist II (BS II) provides coordination of clinical operations, and standardization of behavioral practices across state-operated Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). The BS II ensures the delivery of high-quality and evidence-based behavioral services, fosters professional development, employee support, ensures compliance with ethical, clinical, and regulatory standards, and is responsible for overseeing State Operated Facilities Division (SOFD) Trauma Informed Care (TIC) efforts, including but not limited to, communications, training, data collection, and development or refinements of policies and procedures
The BS II must demonstrate expertise in Regional Center services, Title 17 and Title 22 regulations, TIC principals, cultural competency, positive behavioral supports, coaching and training methodologies, person-centered practices, and the use and advocacy of the least restrictive interventions. The BS II maintains required professional credentials and works to ensure that BCBAs at state-operated facilities provide services that reflect current best practices. The position also involves training development and collaboration across systems to enhance employee support and clinical quality.

Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change. Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time. Incumbent must live and work in California. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Knowledge of: The BS II must have knowledge of mandated reporting procedures to report any observed or suspected abuse or neglect. Demonstrated knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), trauma-informed care, and clinical supervision principles.
Ability to: Must possess and maintain sufficient physical strength, agility, endurance, and sensory capacity to fulfill the duties of the position. This includes working with individuals with developmental disabilities (e.g., autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability) and co-occurring behavioral and psychiatric challenges (e.g., aggression, psychosis, self-injurious behavior, PTSD), and improve the recognition of impact and prevalence of trauma within the workplace and individuals we serve.
