REPORTS TO: Post Processing Design Lead

SUPERVISES: N/A

PURPOSE: Responsible for creating and optimizing CAD and CAM programs to drive the manufacturing of ship components ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of fabrication processes. Under moderate supervision, works closely with engineering, production, and Production Control teams to ensure that all ship components meet industry standards and specifications.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
    \n
  • Develop Ship-Constructor nest files using AutoCAD Software.
  • \n
  • Responsible for modifying text, mark lines, markings, selecting correct raw stock, part spacing, and maximum plate utilization.
  • \n
  • Develop Material Bill of Materials (MBOM) from ship-constructor nest files in Microsoft excel.
  • \n
  • Producing profile plot drawings in AutoCAD.
  • \n
  • Produce Grand Panel Nest Layouts in AutoCAD.
  • \n
  • Nest profiles using RinasWPP software.
  • \n
  • Nest plate parts using SigmaNEST or Columbus software.
  • \n
  • Provides support troubleshooting issues with material discrepancies, shortages, material grades, remnants, green, and surplus.
  • \n
  • Identify modeling issues that impact post processing products and communicate these issues to design.
  • \n
  • Complies with Austal's employee handbook general guidelines, companyprocedures and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

Required:
    \n
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    \n
  • \n
  • Associated Degree or higher in CAD preferred.
    \n
  • \n
  • 1-3 years of AutoCAD and nesting or programming experience using Columbus, SigmaNEST, RinasWPP or other CAM software
    \n
  • \n
  • Experience using Microsoft products, specifically Excel.
    \n
  • \n
  • Must be willing and have the ability to learn new software programs as needed.
    \n
  • \n
\n
Preferred:
    \n
  • Experience working in a shipyard or manufacturing facility preferred, but not required.
    \n
  • \n
  • Experience with automated manufacturing equipment and the digital products that feed into them highly desired.
    \n
  • \n
  • Knowledge of RinasWPP profile nesting software preferred
    \n
  • \n
  • Experience with CNC G Code is a plus.
    \n
  • \n
  • Ship Constructor experience preferred but not required.
    \n
  • \n
  • Ship building experience preferred but not required.
    \n
  • \n

  • Candidate will be working in our production facility offices, with significant time working with and around production. Must be comfortable working in a construction based environment.

  • Ability to enter 18" x 36" openings and work in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time.

  • Ability to fully extend the arm while reaching overhead, reaching out, reaching to the side and reaching down.
