Job Summary
The Safety & Field Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and maintaining documentation for safety, quality, and scheduling throughout the construction project. The candidate in this position reviews all RFIs, RFI responses, and CORs for scope, constructability, and schedule impact, cost and quality concerns. The position coordinates multiple contractors on site to perform activities safely, smoothly, without interference or delay as well as assists the Project Manager in reviewing contractor pay applications, holding project conferences and assisting with other activities as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the project team to define project boundaries, pedestrian safety plans, wayfinding signage, and construction laydown sites.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of job sites to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety policies.
- Ensure all safety documentation (safety plans, reports, training records) are up to date, accurate, and available for review.
- Address non-compliance issues and implement corrective actions to ensure safety standards are met across all sites.
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety documentation, including site-specific safety plans, incident reports, and compliance checklists, using safety management software.
- Review and analyze drawings, specifications, and project logistics to ensure compliance with safety regulations and constructability standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify and mitigate hazards, track corrective actions, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Facilitate communication among contractors, inspectors, and project teams to address on-site safety concerns and maintain smooth project operations.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to establish and monitor safety measures, such as pedestrian safety plans, signage, and restricted areas, while minimizing disruptions to project timelines.
- Support preconstruction activities by integrating safety considerations into schedules, constructability reviews, and site logistics planning.
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure adherence to safety standards, including certifications, safety plans, and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
- Review RFIs, RFI responses, and CORs for potential safety impacts on scope, schedule, and quality, ensuring alignment with project safety objectives.
- Participate in pre-construction conferences and project meetings to address safety risks, logistics, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors to ensure safe work progress, avoiding interference or delays, and ensuring resolution of safety-related action items.
- Assist in compiling and reviewing closeout documents, ensuring all safety inspections, reports, and checklists are completed in compliance with contract requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in construction environments.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety protocols.
- Proficiency in safety management software and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, scheduling software and Project Management tools such as ProCore.
- Certifications: Required: Valid Driver's License. Preferred: OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification, OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Field Safety Technician (CFST), Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma Certifications (Green Belt, Black Belt), CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.
- Language : Proficiency in both English and Spanish is mandatory.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, with travel to project sites as required.
- The position may involve working in office and field environments, with a focus on construction sites.
- Ability to work on-site and in potentially challenging outdoor conditions during installation and construction phases.
- Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; make repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in the performance of daily duties; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
