Position scope

  • This candidate will be responsible for general accounting activities, cost accounting activities, and/or financial reporting.
  • Provide analysis to management, including cost analyses, asset performance analyses, and variance analyses on key budget / performance data.
  • Review and report G/L and other statistical information for internal managerial reports.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for reporting safety incidents, ensuring standard operating procedures are up-to-date, work requests are entered, lockout tagout procedures are correct, etc.
  • Ensure and enforce safety policies, safe working practices, quality, and production goals.
  • Develop, maintain, and approve standards, budgets, and/or pro-formats.
  • Monitor and report budget variance(s).
  • Analyze and approve AFE’s.
    1. This does include researching and preparing financial justification.
  • Review/analyze (including variance analyses) capital expenditures and from multiple groups.
  • Consolidate and analyze capital plans from multiple groups.
  • Analyze capital vs expense classifications.
  • Analyze and report cost variances, cost drivers, and cost trends. Must be able to develop recommendations for improved cost management.
  • Prepare and analyze product costs and process cost statements.
  • Prepare and submit financial accounting information as required.
  • Determine staffing levels and develop subsequent capital and expense budgets.
  • Interface with transactional accounting personnel to understand and monitor the accuracy of reporting and account posting.
  • Assist operations management in planning, controlling, and analyzing business activity.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain strategic plans.
  • Work with management to improve the joint interpretation of financial indicators and statements.
  • Consolidate operational and / or divisional financial information.
  • Analyze and report EVA and real productivity results.
  • Review and report key performance measures (daily, monthly, and / or quarterly) to management.
  • Work with various groups and functions to facilitate continuous improvement to services, efficiency, and internal controls.
Skills
  • General accounting skills such as journal entries, account analysis, preparing monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
    • Includes overseeing A/P interfaces with operating unit systems; includes reviewing account codes and approvals on purchase/work orders and reconciling activities, and period-end cut off to the A/P system.
    • Oversee A/R interfaces with unit and division systems; includes reviewing sales classifications, account codes and approvals on order acceptance and reconciling activity, and period-end cut off to the A/R system.
    • Analyze balance sheet accounts, relationships, and trends.
  • Monitor and control accounting systems: A/R, A/P, Payroll, Fixed Assets, Sales
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other Microsoft Office Suite tools.
  • Has a strong analytical ability –
    • Understands analysis/management, evaluation of strategic /tactical alternatives, extrapolation/interpretation & evaluation of data & information, generation of strategic & tactical alternatives.
  • ERP Systems experience required; SAP referred.
  • Strong analytical skills with a strong judgement and decision-making focus
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate across all levels and functions of the organization, including both written and verbal formats.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-sufficient, result-driven, and detail-oriented mindset
  • Proven leadership skills, including fostering positive teamwork dynamics.
    • This does include having diplomacy and sensitivity.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a Business-related field required. Manufacturing experience preferred with a minimum of 7 years in an Accounting / Finance role.
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Includes working in an office.
  • The company will provide training regarding union contracts, and various reporting software’s used to include meeting environmental and safety objectives.
  • Will provide training to make sure the candidate is trained in Reliability Excellence initiatives such as work requests regarding the CMMS system.
  • Will also provide training on the basic understanding of the processes that can be found in the various departments in the mill.
  • There is also room for advancement or changing of work area, if so desired. This position will report to the Vice President.
