Job Description
The Dental Assistant/Front office float position.
We are seeking an ideal candidate who can perform both clinical and administrative tasks to support our small family dental practice and team. We prefer a candidate that is already cross-trained to provide assistance in both the front and back office, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
•Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and tray setups for dental procedures.
•Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment.
•Assist the dentist during examinations and treatment procedures.
•Conduct work in compliance with office policies and procedures, safety and OSHA guidelines.
•Greet patients upon arrival and assist in answering incoming phone calls.
•Ensure patients have updated all necessary paperwork prior to treatment.
•Assist with on-call and reactivation patient lists to ensure openings in the practice schedule are filled.
•Assist with collecting payments from patients at the time of treatment and scheduling future patient appointments.
•Assist with monitoring and organizing outgoing/incoming patient referrals and specialist updates.
•Dispatch lab work appropriately and check in lab cases as they arrive.
•Maintain regular, predictable attendance.
•Assist with other duties as assigned.
Preferred but not required:
•Current Basic life support (CPR) Certification.
•Radiation Safety Certificate (X-ray license).
•Knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures specific to a dental office environment.
•Proof of course completion in the California Dental Practice Act (CDPA) and Infection Control for Dental Assistants (8-hour) within 12 months of employment.
