JOB SUMMARY
The Dental Lab Technician is responsible for fabricating, modifying, and repairing dental prosthetics such as dentures, crowns, and bridges. This role supports the dental team by ensuring high-quality, patient-specific dental appliances are produced in a timely and precise manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Read and interpret dental prescriptions and specifications from dentists.
• Design and construct dental prosthetics, including fixed, removable, and orthodontic appliances.
• Operate dental lab tools and equipment such as grinders, polishers, casting machines, CEREC crown mills, other dental milling devices, and 3D printers..
• Utilize digital dental technology, including TRIOS, iTero, and other dental scanners and imaging systems for accurate appliance fabrication.
• Trim, polish, and adjust dental appliances to ensure proper fit and function.
• Repair and rebuild dental prosthetics as needed.
• Assist chairside with prosthetic design and treatment.
• Maintain accurate records of all dental appliances fabricated or modified.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the lab.
• Manage inventory of dental materials and request supplies as needed.
• Collaborate with dentists and dental assistants to ensure patient satisfaction and appliance accuracy. • Must comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
• Performs related duties.
REQUIREMENTS
• Participates in Core Connections training and applies GPTLHB Core Connections concepts and practices in their work.
• Familiarity and/or experience working with American Indian populations and respect for and knowledge of traditional, cultural, and spiritual practices of diverse American Indian communities, as well as an ability to work with other culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
• Proficiency with computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other Internet technologies.
• Valid driver’s license must be kept current, and certificates, credentials or licenses must be kept current and consistent with regulations required by applicable federal, state and/or grant regulations as applies to position.
• Work in a cooperative and professional manner with OHC and GPTLHB staff.
• Treat Great Plains tribes and collaborators with dignity and respect.
• Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Advance personal educational development by attending training sessions and seminars as appropriate.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education/Relevant Experience: Completion of a formal dental lab technician training program or an associate’s degree and one (1) year of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or GED and three (3) years of relevant experience.
Individuals must have applicable education or experience applying a body of standardized rules, procedures, or operations to perform the full range of standard clerical assignments and resolve recurring problems or to operate and adjust varied equipment for purposes such as performing numerous standardized tests or operations.
PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Certification from the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology (NBC) is a plus.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Experience with CAD/CAM dental systems.
Familiarity with digital impression systems and 3D printing.
