Job Description

WGA is an award-winning Texas-based professional engineering and consulting firm founded in 2007, and has experienced steady growth in a competitive market. We built our practice on the foundational beliefs that creative design drives successful projects, and that collaborative working relationships with municipalities, permitting authorities and local and state agencies yielding tangible results throughout the development process. Our extensive range of experience includes industrial, commercial, large mixed-use, hospitality, healthcare, education, municipal and multi- and single-family residential projects. From large-scale industrial projects to preliminary feasibility studies, our goal is to provide value through creative and cost-effective design solutions. We currently have 4 locations across Texas and growing: Houston, The Woodlands, Austin and San Antonio.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of established industry design standards to support the project team in preparing models, plans, and drawings for key components such as utilities, pavement, and earthwork.
  • Create detailed construction plan drawings for Site Development projects, ensuring compliance with agency permitting and approval processes with minimal supervision.
  • Create detailed surfaces utilizing survey data for accurate earthwork calculations and comparisons.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs from conceptual and final construction plans.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues using sound judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Provide regular updates to Project Managers and communicate any design-related concerns promptly.
  • Collaborate with engineers and senior designers to complete tasks within specified timelines and budget constraints.
  • Mentor and train CAD Technicians to improve team capabilities and ensure quality outputs.

Minimum Qualification/Work Experience

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • High school diploma or technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in site development design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • Willingness to learn and expand responsibilities

  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions provided in written and oral formats.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to be innovative and apply technical skills effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, for working effectively in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to manage change and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Extensive knowledge of CAD standards and advanced functionality in Civil 3D.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality at the Houston office.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
