We are looking for someone who brings strength in human resources, project management, and organizational leadership, and who can turn visionary ideas into concrete action plans with staff across departments, in cooperation with the Senior Pastor. This role requires faith in Jesus Christ, humility, emotional intelligence, trustworthiness, and a collaborative spirit. This leader is not only an experienced operations leader, but also a cultural architect who can help us build a healthy, permission-giving, high-performance environment grounded in grace, trust, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
Organizational & Operational Leadership

- Manage and continuously improve systems related to finance, human resources, facilities, and technology.
- Serve as the primary staff liaison to administrative committees (Finance, Trustees, SPRC, Nominations, and Church Council), ensuring strong communication and execution of decisions.
- Partner with and supervise the Heads of School to ensure operational excellence, facilities management and enhancement to further our position as a pre-school in Louisville, and ensure budget alignment in our Christ Church School.
Staff Development & Culture
-In conjunction with the Senior Pastor, work with the staff and our church leadership toward a collaborative spirit to develop a culture of “call” and “covenant” trending toward a sole focus of leading Christ Church to health, growth and God’s preferred future for us.
- Supervise certain, non-clergy, church staff with clarity, encouragement, and accountability, fostering a culture of trust, initiative, and high performance.
- Identify training and development needs for paid staff and volunteers and ensure those needs are met through appropriate resources.
- Ensure healthy systems of communication, feedback, and alignment within and between ministry areas.
- Participate in strategic planning and ministry design alongside the Senior Pastor and leadership team.
Financial Management
- Alongside the Senior Pastor, and our financial department, oversee the church’s budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation in partnership with the Finance Committee and Financial Controller.
- Alongside the Senior Pastor, and financial department, ensure compliance with financial policies, the UMC Book of Discipline, and legal standards.
- Monitor financial health and recommend adjustments as needed to maximize ministry impact.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; BBA, Bachelor in HR, MBA, or equivalent preferred.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in a large church or nonprofit setting, preferably managing staff and organizational systems.
- Strong background in human resources and operational leadership.
- Proven ability to execute complex projects and manage multiple priorities with excellence.
- Excellent relational and communication skills; emotionally intelligent and team-oriented.
- Spiritually grounded, humble, and aligned with the United Methodist/Wesleyan theological tradition and Christ Church’s missional, sacramental, spirit-empowered identity.
Personal Characteristics
- Deeply trustworthy; someone the Senior Pastor and staff can rely on without reservation.
- A systems thinker who understands that structure serves mission.
- A leader who leads with both competence and compassion—clear on expectations, generous in spirit.
- Comfortable in a culture that is both high-trust and high-accountability—where each person is empowered within their area of ministry and expected to produce fruit.
- Spiritually mature, emotionally grounded, and passionately committed to the work of Christ in and through the local church and to the mission of Christ Church of Becoming Living Proof of God’s Love One Person at a Time.
