Russell Tobin is urgently hiring for Production Workers for one of our food manufacturing clients in Piscataway, NJ . It's a Temp to Hire role.

Pay range: $17-18/hr.
Shifts Available:
1st shift (6am-2:30pm)
Overnight shift (8:30pm-9am), will train on 1st shift.

Candidate has to be bilingual Spanish/ English.

Job Summary:

Assists with production activities while following GMP’s and all the requirements described in the company’s HACCP plan for SQF compliance, sanitation, traceability requirements, and quality standards. Performs basic responsibilities ranging from assembling or disassembling lines, keeping adequate levels of chocolate in the tanks, working with others on a production line, cleaning their workstation, performing process monitoring and other associated responsibilities as given by management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow all the safety and cGMP’s guidelines as indicated by Company’s Food Safety and Quality Programs.
  • Assemble and disassemble production equipment (extruders, enrobbers)
  • Fills raw material into processing tank (Chocolate chips, yogurt).
  • Handles flow pack machine (changes paper, change settings for mini or regular bars and monitors performance throughout the shift)
  • Fills product into baskets.
  • Place packaging material into machines as required.
  • Monitor the production process, follow production guidelines and specifications.
  • Report any Food Quality/Food Safety Issue or concern to management or to the Food Safety Committee
  • Communicates to Supervisors or leads any deviation observed during the process (unusual waste, incorrect packaging, incorrect printing, weights out of specs, issues with equipment)
  • Carry out basic quality and testing checks (Weight reports, Metal detectors, tunnels condensation)
  • Maintain a clean workstation and the production area in general.
  • Reports waste.
  • Fill out reports for QA checks and traceability.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Medium work: lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The job requires standing or walking, off and on, for a total of approximately 6 hours in an 8-hour workday.
  • Must be able to push and pull pallets of raw material.
  • Capable of extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
  • Capable of working with Fingers (pick up bars)
  • Ability to apply pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
  • The worker must be able to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels, possesses the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Must have the visual ability to perform visual inspections involving small defects and to distinguish colors.
  • Capable of expressing or exchanging ideas through spoken word
  • Capable of bending the body downwards and forward by bending at the waist
  • Capable of bending the body downwards and forward by bending leg and spine
  • Must be able to move about on foot to accomplish tasks.
  • The worker is subjected to hazards: moving mechanical parts such as conveyors, lifts, proximity to moving vehicles (Forklifts)
  • Must be able to work at refrigerated temperatures and occasionally enter a freezer to pick up or store materials.
  • Good communication skills (Bilingualism is a plus)
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tasks.
  • Must have flexibility with scheduling, ability to work multiple shifts.
  • Strong team player

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School graduate or GED (General Education Development) preferred.
  • 1 year of packing work experience (Food processing facility preferred).
