Job Title: Skid Steer Operator - Asphalt Milling

Department: Asphalt Milling - Richmond

Reports to: Milling Foreman

 

Major Role and Purpose :

  • Operate a skid steer loader with various attachments used for asphalt milling operations to clean up and prepare surfaces for asphalt paving and other work.

Description of Duties :

  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Properly manipulate hand or foot levers to control movement of milling machine.
  • Safely and efficiently operate a skid steer with milling attachments, sweeper attachments, and other attachments used in milling operations.
  • Clean and prepare milled surfaces by removing debris.
  • Positions and secures work pieces on machines, using holding devices, measuring instruments, hand tools and hoists.
  • Observes milling machine operation and adjusts controls to ensure conformance with specified tolerances.
  • Conduct daily maintenance checks, greasing equipment, and maintaining proper fluid levels.
  • Ability to work outside of the machine to assist with various labor needs.
  • Overtime work is required.
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned by supervisor.

Education:

  • High School Diploma / GED

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a skid steer operator including attachments preferred.

Skills Required

  • Effective communication and organization skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and the ability to work safety in various conditions.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

Physical Demands:

  • Job requires the following motions: climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, vibrating, and reaching.
  • Requires lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Overtime work is required.
  • Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
