Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to helping individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This role involves providing therapeutic support, conducting assessments, and developing treatment plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work collaboratively with clients, families, and other professionals to promote recovery and improve overall well-being.

Duties

• Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to assess clients' substance use issues and mental health conditions.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and client goals.
• Provide individual and group therapy sessions focused on substance abuse recovery strategies.
• Document all patient interactions accurately in EHR.
• Facilitate family counseling sessions to support clients' loved ones in the recovery process.
• Complete documentation in accordance with organizational policies.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and community resources to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
• Complete ASAM to determine level of care.
• Ensuring insurance authorization/reimbursement through initial contact with third party payers.

Skills

• Awareness of 12-step philosophies.
• Ability to work within Clinical Team with openess to give and receive feedback from peers.
• Excellent client care skills with a focus on empathy and support.
• Ability to facilitate process group therapy sessions that encourage participation and healing.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients, families, and colleagues.
