Position Summary

Cerity Partners is seeking a highly organized, detail?oriented Trader & Operations Associate to join our advisory team in Boston. This individual will work closely with our Lead Wealth Advisor and Investment Advisor to help design, implement, and execute investment strategies across client portfolios. The role blends daily trading, portfolio implementation, and investment operations, with a strong emphasis on precision, investment acumen, and high?quality client execution. This is an ideal role for a professional who enjoys working at the intersection of markets, modeling, and operational excellence within a sophisticated wealth?management environment.

Primary Responsibilities

Trading & Portfolio Implementation

• Execute equity and ETF trades across client accounts based on our core equity strategy, client mandates, and individualized portfolio needs.
• Assemble and execute block trades across our custodians and/or through prime brokerage relationships, ensuring best execution, proper allocation, and compliance alignment.
• Work closely with the Investment Advisor to implement model updates, tax?aware rebalancing, cash positioning, and opportunistic trades.
• Monitor portfolio drift, capital flows, and liquidity needs to maintain alignment with client goals and investment guidelines.
• Maintain accurate trade files, allocation records, and compliance documentation.

SMA & Private Investment Setup

• Coordinate the onboarding and operational setup of Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs) and private investment vehicles (private equity, credit, venture, real estate, interval funds, etc.).
• Prepare and track subscription documents, investor questionnaires, and custodian requirements in partnership with third?party managers and fund administrators.
• Ensure proper funding, timing, and reporting setup for SMAs and private investment accounts.
• Track capital calls, distributions, and liquidity schedules across private investments.

Operations & Advisor Support

• Collaborate with the Client Associate, who handles account openings, ACATs, and transfers; ensure all trading?related requirements are communicated clearly and executed accurately.
• Maintain portfolio management systems (CRM, OMS/PMS) with up?to?date holdings, cash levels, and investment directives.
• Support the advisor team with portfolio analytics, performance reviews, drift reporting, and implementation dashboards.
• Assist in troubleshooting reconciliation or data integrity issues across systems.

Investment Strategy & Research Support

• Assist in research related to equities, ETFs, managers, portfolio construction, and market themes relevant to the core equity strategy.
• Collaborate with the advisory team on ongoing enhancements to equity models, reconstitution workflows, sector exposures, and risk factors.
• Prepare materials for internal investment discussions and client?facing portfolio updates.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
• 14 years of experience in wealth management, trading, operations, or investment support.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with portfolio management systems (Addepar, Orion, Tamarac, Black Diamond, etc.) preferred.

Skills and Competencies

• Understanding of equities, ETFs, portfolio construction, and trade execution.
• Experience with custodial platforms (Schwab, Fidelity, Pershing, etc.), block trading workflows, and/or prime brokerage a plus.
• Strong quantitative, organizational, and analytical skills, with high attention to detail.
• Clear and professional communication skills.
• Brings precision and discipline to all trading and operational workflows.
• Understands how to translate investment strategy into clean, accurate trade execution.
• Collaborates effectively with advisors and client associates to ensure seamless client outcomes.
• Displays a proactive mindset and continuously looks for workflow improvements.

Compensation Range

$60,000?90,000
