The Tailwind Group Summer Intern Program allows students or recent grads to gain real world experience in their area of interest and understand its function within the student housing industry - all while making a true impact on our business.
The pay rate for this position is $15/hr. This internship term will run from May 26th - August 15th and will include:

The Position: The Accounting Intern is primarily responsible for supporting the Accounting Team in completing month end responsibilities, conducting research and data reviews, and supporting an upcoming transition to our operating systems. A successful Accounting Intern will effectively communicate with and support the department, remain organized while supporting multiple projects and initiatives, and have a desire to develop professionally within the industry.
Responsibilities & Duties - Model and cascade Tailwind Group's five core values: Entrepreneurial, Versatile, Responsive, Innovative, and Integrity.
- Assist with journal entries in the General Journal.
- Play a key role in migrating data and supporting the reporting efforts in our operating system.
- Prepare and process vendor and owner distribution checks.
- Receive and deposit checks for various entities.
- Provide analysis and reporting on various ad-hoc projects.
- Monitor spend management and the accounts payable exception que.
- Assist in researching, tracking, and restoring accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
- Prepare month end financials for designated entities.
- Complete month end reconciliation template rollovers.
- Assist the accounting team in monthly bank reconciliations.
- Shadow the accounting team to learn various aspects of property accounting within the student housing industry.
- Communicate professionally with company personnel, external clients, vendors, and banking contacts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and working towards a degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Must be a rising junior, senior, or recent graduate at time of internship.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities - Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Possess strong administrative, organization and communication skills.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- A positive and innovate approach to problem-solving.
- A willingness to learn in fast-paced environment.
