A local Food Distribution company is seeking to hire an Experienced Transportation Manager. The Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of delivery logistics, fleet management, and operational efficiency. This role includes optimizing driver routes, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining compliance with DOT, FMCSA and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of the transportation departments, including scheduling, routing and dispatching.
  • Demonstrates expertise is using tools to plan routes and schedules, ensuring timely deliveries using the most cost effective routes possible.
  • Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards in delivery and logistics operations.
  • Lead, train and evaluate transportation staff to maintain high performance standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations pertaining to transportation and safety.
  • Oversee fleet maintenance and repairs to minimize fleet interruptions.
  • Use a data driven approach to analyze logistics and delivery operations, focusing on cost, productivity and safety.
  • Handle transportation related issues or emergencies that may arise.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of proven experience in a transportation manager or logistics role.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal transportation regulations is essential.
  • Possess a valid Class A CDL and DOT card.
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient with ELD’s and transportation management software.
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

As a Transportation Manager, you will oversee the efficient and safe transportation of goods and personnel, utilizing your core skills in communication, CDL A, dispatching, management, and organizational skills. Your premium skills in strategic planning, budget management, and team leadership will be instrumental in optimizing transportation operations and ensuring timely deliveries. Your relevant skills in route optimization, fleet maintenance, and regulatory compliance will contribute to the smooth functioning of the transportation department.
