About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Accounting Officer and Assistant Vice President to provide strategic leadership in all accounting and financial matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, general accounting, accounts payable, public/private venture reporting, capital asset management, payroll, and travel services. This key leadership role involves ensuring the integrity of financial data, maintaining a system of internal controls, and overseeing compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations. The Chief Accounting Officer and Assistant Vice President will also be a primary contact for external and state auditors, and will work closely with the Vice President for Business and Finance to manage the University's operating cash and short-term investments. Applicants for the Chief Accounting Officer and Assistant Vice President position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with a preference for a Master's degree, and at least 8-10 years of management experience in accounting or financial services. Strong leadership skills, the ability to work in and lead teams, and effective communication skills are essential. The role requires a candidate with a thorough understanding of GAAP, FASB/GASB pronouncements, and experience in a highly regulated environment, public sector, or college/university administration. A professional certification such as CPA, CIA, CMA, or CGMA is also preferred. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of financial management, a commitment to the mission of the University, and the ability to foster a culture of accountability and stewardship.
