POTENTIAL FOR MOTHLY PERFORMANCE BASED BONUS
SHIFT: Approximately 2-10 PM Monday- Thursday subject to route needs.
SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for handling all specimen pickups scheduled on their route as assigned by the logistics manager. Couriers must maintain communication and documentation of the pickups performed or missed in accordance with their standard operating procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Couriers will receive their route daily from the Logistics or Client Service Team via email, they will confirm the route prior to the start of their shift. Couriers will confirm that their vehicle is in good working order with adequate time to ensure that any maintenance is completed prior to the start of their route.
They will confirm the addition or reduction of any stops and then perform the route as assigned, they will maintain communication with the CSR and Logistics teams in the event that late pickups are requested. The courier will log their route as well as the number of specimens picked up from each location and their temperatures. Couriers will confirm their counts with the accessioning department and will turn in their logs daily.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Couriers should maintain good attendance, all absences should be scheduled ahead of time, any unscheduled absences should be notified to the manager a minimum of 4 hours prior to the start of their shift. Couriers should be able to run their route successfully, with all appropriate documentation. All stops and specimens should be accounted for in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS: Couriers should have a driver's license, maintain appropriate levels of insurance, a clean driving record, and should be able to communicate with team members in a professional manner.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Couriers should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience as a medical specimen courier, or similar experience in passenger or delivery driving is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Couriers must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Couriers must have basic computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets, email, and document printing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Couriers must be able to drive for long periods of time without stopping as required by their route, couriers must be able to bend, lift, and use lockbox keys. Couriers may be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Couriers will transition between the lab during their check in period, the cars for the driving portion, and the client offices for the pickup. Drivers will be expected to be prepared for any weather conditions both in their driving and in their pickups. Umbrellas, jackets/ coats are recommended but not provided or required.
EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS: Couriers will be required to have a vehicle that is in good working order, a smartphone with internet/network capabilities, WhatsApp mobile application. The company will provide a Styrofoam cooler, icepacks, large plastic transport bags, printed copies of their route, and gloves upon request.
