Job Description

Job Title: Museum Assistant

Location: Andarako, Oklahoma 73005

Duties:

Applicant will assist the collections manager and educator, and is responsible for:
- Clean and maintain exhibits, including weekly inspections, monthly cleaning and vacuuming of display areas, replacement of light bulbs, monitoring potentially damaging environmental
  conditions, rotating objects from display to prolong their lifespan, and updating and installing signage to reflect changes in exhibits.
- Perform duties related to the museums Integrated Pest Management program. This includes monitoring of insect traps in the museum and cleaning and vacuuming exhibition areas and artifacts.
- Alleviate the backlog of cataloging and photography of collection items for permanent museum records.
- Assist in the development and installation of museum exhibits, including contemporary Indian art sales exhibitions at the SPIM and online.
- Assist the Curator with the development and presentation of educational programs at the SPIM and online.
- Assist with giving tours and monitoring the front desk.

Education & Qualifications:

Experience in museum tour development and presentations
At least two years of combined experience with collection management and museum
education
Experience working with the public
Experience in researching and cataloging artifacts
